Functions of buttons on LAT Toolbar and their

corresponding default keybinds


Keyboard shortcuts can only be activated while Drawing Mode is on except for the 3 that are colored purple.

Draw Anywhere on your Screen!

Drawing Mode Icon

Toggle Drawing Mode with CTRL + SHIFT!


Switch on Drawing Mode to begin creating annotations on top of your apps, anywhere on your screen!

When Drawing Mode is on, the button would be colored bright green.


Use Left Click to start annotating on your screen! During this time you cannot interact with your apps underneath the overlay. You can only click on or type on the apps under the overlay when Drawing Mode is OFF


To quickly switch between annotating on top of your apps and interacting with the apps below your screen, use CTRL + SHIFT (hold down CTRL then press SHIFT) to switch Drawing Mode between OFF and ON

Select a brush to use for drawing! The selected brush will be highlighted blue even if Drawing Mode is not on.

Customise your Brushes!

Color Palette Icon

Choose from your palette of colors!


Color Palette Opened

Click the Color Palette button to view your available colors.

Click on one of the colors to select it for your brush!

Alternatively use the 1, 2, 3, ..., 0 keybinds to change colors very quickly.

Custom colors can be set in the Settings Menu.

The current color is saved even if LAT is closed and reopened.

Change brush size!


  • Conveniently use your mouse scroll wheel while in Drawing Mode to increase and decrease your brush sizes.
  • The brush size of every brush is saved individually.
  • Brush sizes are saved even when LAT is closed and reopened.
  • The brush outline shown while in Drawing Mode would also reflect the size of the current brush.

Customise your Colors!

Set your own custom colors!


Color Settings Menu
  • Set any custom color that you want in your palette!
  • Select a color inside the Color Tab of the Settings Menu to manually set its color.
  • Set it to any color by inputting your desired RGB values!
  • Or use a color selector to choose a color that you want more quickly!

Customise all your Keybinds!

Change any of the keybinds available in LAT to your liking!


Set Keybind Settings Menu
  • Freely change any of LAT's default keybinds to any key that you want!
  • Click any keybind inside the Keybinds Tab of the Settings Menu to change it.
  • The selected keybind would be highlighted in red, press any key on your keyboard to set it.
  • LAT automatically stops you from setting keybinds that conflict with other LAT keybinds!

Erase All Convenience Button

Quickly clear all your annotations!


  • Use the Erase All button to quickly remove all the annotations on your screen!
  • Alternatively, press the Delete key instead of clicking the button to get the same outcome. (Customisable in Settings)

Screenshots!

Save a Screenshot with your annotations really quickly!


  • Press the Save/Screenshot button anytime to very quickly take a snapshot of your screen together with the annotations!
  • You could also use the PrintScreen keybind while Drawing Mode is ON to do this. (Customisable in Settings)
  • The new screenshot would automatically be saved in your Downloads folder with the current timestamp as the filename.
  • The LAT Toolbar would be hidden before the screenshot is taken so that it does not block your screen!
  • Change the default save location of the screenshot in the Others Tab of the Settings Menu. (Coming Soon!)

Get the Toolbar out of the way!

Minimize Icon

Minimize the toolbar and use LAT's keyboard shortcuts to make fuller use of your screen while annotating!


  • Press the Minimise button anytime to compact the toolbar into a small square that only contains a Maximize button.
  • In this way, you can make use of LAT's keyboard shortcuts to quickly draw annotations without the LAT toolbar taking up any of your screen's real estate!
  • The Maximize button would be colored Dark Green or Light Green corresponding to whether you are in Drawing Mode or not.
  • Click the Maximise button to turn the LAT Toolbar back into the full sized version!

  • EXTRA! Use the alternative CTRL + M keyboard shortcut instead of the Minimize button to FULLY hide the LAT Toolbar away from your screen. (Experimental!)

Slideshow Integration!

Slideshow Icon

Automatically save annotations of your slides while presenting!


Currently only supported on Windows!


This feature helps you quickly and automatically save pictures of each slide with your fresh annotations on them while you are still presenting live.


  • Toggle the Slideshow Recording button to ON to start Slideshow Recording Mode! (You can either click the Slideshow Recording button or use the "R" keybind, customisable in Settings)

  • Turn it on when you begin your PowerPoint slideshow or when presenting any other kind of slide deck!
  • While in Drawing Mode, if you press the Right Arrow key to go to the next slide, then LAT would automatically record the current slide.

  • After your slideshow has ended, turn off Slideshow Recording and you will find a PDF file of your annotated slides, as well as compiled individual images of your slides complete with your annotations in your Downloads folder! (Being able to select the folder to save it in is coming in the future)

NOTE: If you want to skip saving a slide, turn off Drawing Mode before pressing the Right Arrow key and that slide would not be saved. The slides would automatically save only while Drawing Mode is on.


Insert Text

Insert Text Icon

Paste in text onto anywhere on your screen!


Currently only supported on Windows!


This feature essentially allows you to place text onto the Drawing Mode overlay, anywhere on your screen.

Only works while Drawing Mode is ON.


    How to use:
  • Copy the text that you want to put on your screen into your clipboard.
  • Set the desired color using your color keybinds, and set the font size by changing the size of your current brush.
  • Press the Insert Text Button. Move your mouse to position the text at your desired location.
  • Left Click once to place your text down. You can partially erase the text using the Eraser unlike in Zoom Annotations.

    Possible Use Cases:
  • Paste text onto your screen instead of drawing the text out with your mouse.
  • Display Student Questions - Copy questions from Zoom Chat, to then place the question anywhere on your screen before starting to work on it.

Instant Whiteboard

Instantly bring up a Whiteboard whenever you need one!


This feature essentially allows you to open a whiteboard on the Drawing Mode overlay.

Only works while Drawing Mode is ON.


    How to use:
  • Turn on Drawing Mode, then press "W" on your keyboard to bring up the whiteboard.
  • To close the whiteboard, either press "W" again, or turn off Drawing Mode.
  • The keybind "W" for the whiteboard can be customised in Settings.

    Possible Use Cases:
  • Bringing up a whiteboard to draw on to answer a student's impromptu question.
  • Write out workings for a math question.

Laser Pointer

Use Laser Pointer Mode to direct attention!


This feature lets you toggle a Laser Pointer on or off using the L keybind. (Customisable in Settings)

Laser Pointer can only be toggled on/off while Drawing Mode is ON.


    How to use:
  • Turn on Drawing Mode, then press "L" on your keyboard to turn on the laser pointer.
  • The laser pointer remains on if you turn off Drawing Mode.
  • To turn off the laser pointer, press "L" again while Drawing Mode is on.
  • The keybind "L" for the whiteboard can be customised in Settings.
